Off-Campus Access

What is it?

Off-Campus Access service allows you to connect to the Waseda licensed databases, e-journals, and e-books remotely from home or while traveling.

Terms and Conditions for Use of Licensed Electronic Resources

  • Copyrights for databases and electronic journals belong to the authors or service providers. These rights are protected under the copyright laws and international agreements.
  • Databases and electronic journals are restricted for use by Waseda University students, faculty and staff only, unless otherwise noted.
  • You must keep the terms and conditions of each service. Be sure to check the "Terms and Conditions" or "User Agreement."
  • You can download or print out the contents for the purpose of your own investigation or research, and to the extent necessary to your use, unless otherwise stipulated.
  • Users are strictly prohibited to download data through automatic programming, etc. Moreover, downloading a large volume of data in short period of time by hand and/or systematic downloading of specified journals may also be considered as 'inappropriate.'
  • You must not reproduce, distribute or alter the contents without the provider's permission unless you do it for your personal use.
  • If any of the above terms are violated, the provider may suspend access by the entire university to the service. Library may make a claim for the damages, report the matter to your school/department or take an appropriate action.
  • Accept the above terms and go to Login (EZproxy1)
Accept the above terms and go to Login (EZproxy2)
Two servers for Off-Campus Access service are available. Select either EZproxy1 or 2.

  • On the first Tuesday of every month, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, Off-Campus Access service will be temporarily unavailable for system maintenance.
  • Note that not all e-resources are available from off-campus due to licensing or technical restrictions. For some e-resources, off-campus access is limited to certain users or it may take some time before they are available from off-campus.
  • Library automatically collects access logs for statistical analysis. These statistics will not include any personal information. If an inappropriate use of the service is confirmed, the library will use the logs for necessary investigation.
  • To view on-campus only web pages other than library e-resources, use "Off-campus access using VPN" provided by IT Center.

Using Off-Campus Access (EZproxy)

  • Once you click on "Accept the above terms and go to Login (EZproxy)," you will be required to enter your ID and Password. Enter your ID and Password following the instruction on the screen and click Login.
  • After you successfully login, select the e-resource that you would like to access on "Waseda E-Resource Portal." Only e-resources with an "Off-Campus Access" icon may be accessed from off-campus.

Notes

  • While logging into Off-Campus Access (EZproxy), you will see the phrase "ez.wul.waseda.ac.jp" or "ez2.wul.waseda.ac.jp" as part of the URL in the address bar (e.g., http://wine.wul.waseda.ac.jp.ez.wul.waseda.ac.jp/). If the URL does not contain the phrase "ez.wul.waseda.ac.jp" or "ez2.wul.waseda.ac.jp," you are no longer accessing via Off-Campus Access (EZproxy). Login from this page and try to access e-resources again.
  • Once you login, you will be able to access e-resources directly without further authentication for a certain period. If you are prompted to login while using, enter your ID and Password again.
  • Off-Campus Access (EZproxy) will log you out after a certain time of inactivity.
  • Note that not all the features of e-resources are supported due to system restrictions.
