Access to Academic Information (Waseda University Library)
Your Online Personal Database and Bibliography Creator
RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from text files or online databases. You can use these references in writing papers and automatically format the paper and the bibliography in seconds.
Eligible Users
RefWorks is available to current Waseda University students, faculty, and staff.
(Students of Waseda University Senior High School, students of Waseda University Honjo High School, Students of Art and Architecture School and Students of Kawaguchi Art School of Waseda University are not eligible.)
Registration (using for the first time)
- Click the Sign up for an Individual Account link and set up an individual account before you start. When you set up an account, you must be at a computer connected to the University network. Please make sure your screen says "RefWorks User Login for Waseda University". If you already have an account, log in to RefWorks from this screen.
- Fill out all the information and then click on Register. The login name and the password can be anything that you choose. Do not use your Waseda-net password as your RefWorks Password for security reasons. The password must be more than 4 letters and numbers.
You will receive an email confirmation which includes a Group Code and other login information. When you log in to RefWorks from off-campus, you will need this Group Code. At the Remote Access screen, enter the Group Code and click the Go To Login button.
If you forgot your Group Code, select a link that says "Forgot your log-in?" at the Individual Log-In tab. Enter your e-mail address that you used when registering for your RefWorks account. Your login information including the Group Code will be mailed to you.

RefWorks after Graduation
When you graduate or leave Waseda University, you will no longer have access to the Waseda University's RefWorks subscription. You can convert your account to an individual subscription. You can also export your reference data in several formats using one of RefWorks Export options.
Known Issues
- Export from Gale Virtual Reference Library: The information for the title will be erroneously imported into the "Title, Secondary" field. Please review the imported record, cut the data in the "Title, Secondary" field, and paste it into the "Title, Primary" field. (January 30, 2008)
- Export from EBSCOhost: When exporting from the full record display, only partial information will be sent to RefWorks. When select records and place them in the EBSCO folder, then choose the export option, the data is sent correctly and completely. (July 18, 2007)
