Interlibrary loans at the Kitakyushu Campus

Faculty, staff and student of the "Graduate School of Information, Production and Systems" or "Information, Production and Systems Research Center" may request interlibrary loans for books and other materials by the following procedures. Requests for interlibrary loans for materials owned by Waseda University Library can be made through the Media Center with the cooperation of the Media Center at the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park. Please read the following instructions when using this service.

Books

Books owned by the Central Library and campus libraries (Takata, Toyama, Sci. & Eng., Tokorozawa) and Sci. & Eng. Student Reading Room

  1. Do a search using the library catalog (WINE).
  2. Please check the location (name of the library holding the book) and if it is “ON THE SHELF.”
    (If a book’s due date is listed as yy-mm-dd, it is currently checked out. Please send a request when they are listed as being “ON THE SHELF.” Please note that if an individual placed a hold on library materials, they must be picked up at the library where the book is stored.)
  3. Print out the record indicated in WINE.
  4. Submit the printout and apply the interlibrary loans to the Media Center.
  5. When you are contacted by the Media Center that the books/materials have arrived, please pick them up as soon as possible.
  6. Please return the books/materials to the Media Center by the due date. Mailing costs, round-trip, are borne by the university.
  • Graduate students may borrow 30 books and faculty 60 books from Waseda University.
  • If the due date of the book passes, the user will have restrictions placed on them from the next time an application is made. Please take care not to lose borrowed books and other materials. If a book is lost, the user is required to pay for damages equal to the value of the original item. Please check Liability for Lost or Damaged Books for more information.

Request for copies

With the exception of books and journals owned by Student Reading Rooms, copies can be requested to the extent that the copyright laws allow. (In principle, copies from the current issues of journals are not permitted.)

  1. Do a search on WINE and print out the results.
  2. Submit the page printout with the ILL application to the Media Center.
  3. When you are contacted by the Media Center that the copies have arrived, please pick them up as soon as possible and pay for the charges incurred (Copy costs are the responsibility of individual library users. Copy costs are the same as on-campus at 20 yen/page. Mailing costs are borne by the university.)

Interlibrary loans from universities other than Waseda University
(Apply to the Media Center)

  • In cases where a book is not available at Waseda University Library, library materials can be requested from other universities and institutes.
  • If books owned by other institutions or the National Diet Library are available for interlibrary loans via NACSIS-ILL, please request to the Media Center (CiNii Books mostly checks for library materials owned by universities in Japan. Please note that only journal holdings are listed for Waseda University).
  1. Submit an ILL application to the Media Center (Copy and mailing charges are the responsibility of the applicant).
  2. When you are contacted by the Media Center that the books/materials have arrived, please pick them up as soon as possible and pay for the charges incurred.

Document requests to institutes overseas other than the above
(Only school fee transfers. Please apply to the Waseda University Library.)

  1. Please fill in the “ILL Application Form” (Excel, PDF) and send it by fax to the Dept. of Users Support (FAX 03-3207-9224). Requests for document copies are payable by school fee transfer only (Please be specific about expense items).
  2. The Dept. of Users Support will send confirmation by email to inform applicants of the date that the documents will be sent by university mail. Documents can be picked up any time after the following day at the Graduate School of Information, Production and Systems. Please sign for receipt.
