Borrowing, Returning, Renewing, and Holding (For Waseda users only)
Borrowing
To borrow books, please bring books to circulation desk with student ID, Faculty and staff ID, or library card. Borrowing periods and number of books can be borrowed differ by the user's status at WasedaUniversity Library. For more information, please see
"Borrowing Rules."
View Your Record
The status of books on loan and on hold, confirmation of renewal of books on loan can be viewed from View Your Records on WINE.
Renewal at Circulation Desk
If the book on loan is not placed 'hold' by other users, borrowing the book again is available at the circulation desk right after returning it. Please see
"Return Anywhere Service" to find library and reading room where renewal service is available.
Returning
Library materials must be returned to the circulation desk by the due date.
Return Anywhere Service
Books borrowed from Central Library, Campus Libraries, and Student Reading Rooms on Waseda Campus can be returned to any of these libraries.
Overdue Materials
In case that a borrower misses the due date to return library materials, he/she receives one penalty point per a day per one item. When the penalty points reach 50, borrowing privilege is suspended for 14 days. When borrowing privilege is suspended at one library on campus, this is also subject to apply at other libraries in Waseda.

Liability for Lost or Damaged Books
Please come to a reference desk immediately if a book is lost or damaged. You may be asked to replace the lost / damaged item or may be charged for its replacement.
Renewal on WINE
Loan period can be renewed from
View Your Record on WINE. However, in case that a book is placed a hold by other users or user's library privileges have been suspended, loan period cannot be extended. Please return the book by the due date.

Holding
A book currently "ON HOLD SHELF" or on loan can be placed a hold. To hold a book from the item page on WINE, please press "REQUEST" and log in View Your Record with user's ID and Waseda-net password. To confirm or cancel a hold, please go to
View Your Record on WINE as well.
In case that a reserved book is located at a remote campus library, you need to pick it up at the same library. To request the book to the library you wish to pick up, please ask at a reference desk or request Interlibrary Loans (ILL) from Library Online Request in System Services on Waseda-net Portal.
